Gerz Stein Catalog now “under construction”.
In an ongoing effort to build a comprehensive set of research tools for stein collectors, we’ve just added a new Gerz Stein Catalog to the list of current projects in the Catalogs Under Construction section of the Library. Our most recent BSL volunteer, Jerry Berg (JJB@BeerStein.net), will serve as project coordinator. There are any number of unanswered questions about Gerz stein production that we hope to be able to answer as the project progresses, eventually culminating in a comprehensive survey article to compliment the online catalog. If you have any special expertise relating to Gerz that could contribute to that end, Jerry would appreciate hearing from you directly.
As with all the Beer Stein Library catalogs, the Gerz Stein Catalog will only become a useful research tool with the help of as many Library members as possible. Photos of even one stein can make a difference. Please take the time to send photos of your Gerz steins to info@BeerStein.net.

We’re happy to announce that Jerry Berg, longtime stein collector and character stein specialist, has joined the Beer Stein Library team. Jerry will initially be working on an ongoing in-house stein identification project, as well as adding his character stein expertise to our current capabilities. Hardly a day goes by that doesn’t bring with it requests for help from collectors who want to know more about their steins. When those requests come from BSL members, every possible effort is made to come up with answers, and where time permits, even nonmembers often get the information they’re seeking. With Jerry’s arrival, our character stein expertise gets an immediate upgrade, and his efforts in the development of reliable stein identification tools should quickly result in the enhancement of our overall response capacity. Two more stein manufacturer catalogs are now “under construction”.
The previously existing Merkelbach & Wick Character Stein Catalog has been moved to the “Catalogs Under Construction” section of the Library’s main menu and renamed the Merkelbach & Wick Stein Catalog (i.e., sans “Character”), and will now serve as a base for building a more comprehensive M&W beer stein database. In addition, a J.W. Remy Stein Catalog has been started at the same location. Right now the new additions are basically blank canvases that can only become useful research tools with the help of BSL members.
Remember, information sharing by members is what makes the Beer Stein Library work for all of us. Please take the time to send photos of your M&W and JWR steins to info@BeerStein.net.

The new article makes a substantive contribution to what is known about Diesinger steins and is just one of the results of a project begun earlier this year, which has also included the addition of hundreds of new and replacement photos to the Diesinger Stein Catalog, as well as a number of other catalog content upgrades.
