Description:
This stein is a reproduction of a Westerwald stein dating to around 1780. The large, incised motif on the body of the stein includes six panels of applied ornamentation with raised animals displayed in a style similar to prehistoric cave paintings. Simple structured symbols fill out the remaining available space in a symmetrical design. The upper and lower bands show the blue dot decorations often seen on Westerwald steins of that period.
