A.J. Thewalt Stein Catalog |
Albert Jac. Thewalt GmbH began producing beer steins circa 1897, and by the start of World War I in 1914 had cataloged some 819 different models. Stein production came to a halt at that point and wouldn’t be resumed again until after World War II when, under the guiding hand of Albert Jakob Thewalt, grandson of the founder, the company again entered the beer stein market, producing well over 400 new models before permanently ceasing operations in 2009.
This on-line catalog has been developed specifically for use in the Beer Stein Library. By its very nature, it will continually be a work in process, designed to allow for updating as new facts are discovered. End-users are encouraged to contribute to that effort by submitting new information and/or photographs to us via e-mail addressed to [email protected].
