Pottery or stoneware, relief, 0.5L, pewter lid.

The scene on the left side of this stein shows Wilhelm Tell being arrested in 1307 by Hermann Gessler, the Vogt (bailiff) of Altdorf, a precursor to the famous incident where Tell shoots and arrow through an apple resting on his son’s head, which is depicted in the remainder of the design.
