Images around this stein include: Baldwin (Balduin) I of Edessa, Boemund of Tarent and Godfrey of Bouillon, three prominent leaders in the First Crusade (1096-1099); Peter of Amiens (or Peter the Hermit), a monk and preacher credited with being one of the instigators of the First Crusade; and Saladin, first Sultan of Egypt and Syria and ultimate victor over the Crusaders in the Battle of Hattin (1187), which resulted in the reestablish Islamic military dominance in the Holy Land.
