Pottery, relief, 3.5L, pewter lid.
The central image on this stein differs only in the details from those found on Nos. 680 (0.5L), 681 (1.0L) and 805 (0.5L). One of those details is a signpost on the left side that reads “Konstantanopel 1100 Km” (below right). The reason for its inclusion is unclear, but it’s interesting to note that the actual distance from Breman to the ancient city named after the Roman emperor Constantine (now Istanbul) is actually a little over 2,000 Km.
