shall retain in the world their old beautiful sound.)

Text is taken from “Das Lied der Deutschen” (The Song of the Germans), written in 1841 by August Heinrich Hoffmann von Fallersleben, and sung to a melody originally composed by Joseph Haydn in 1797 for the birthday of Austrian Emperor Francis II.
