(The old Germans lived on both sides of the Rhine,
they laid on bearskins and always drank one more.)

Central image is taken from an illustration by Heinrich Schlitt (1849-1923), part of an 1890 mural that once graced the Wiesbaden Ratskeller, but was sadly destroyed in World War II. Text is derived from a song entitled �Sitz ich in froher Zecher Kreise� (I Sit in the Happy Circle of Revelers), written in 1880 by Ludolf Waldmann.
