Diana was the Roman goddess of chastity, hunting and the moon, shown here in her role as “The Huntress” in the company of a Renaissance hunter.

Base of example shown here marked “Grès Nassovia” (Nassau stoneware), a term applied by Gerz to a series of items displaying relief decoration and a faux salt-glazed background in varying shades of blue.
