Text is taken from a song entitled “Der Schatzgräber” (The Treasure Hunter), written in 1797 by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe.

This stein exists in two virtually identical versions numbered 1247 and 11247 (presumably later). Sale prices tend to be in the same general range for both.
