Bavarian Alpine Mountain

Catalog No. 5039

Pottery, figural, 1.0L.

This stein depicts an unnamed mountain in the Bavarian Alps, bearing marked trails to Bairischzell (or Bayrischzell), Birkenstein and Branenburg (or Brannenburg), three Bavarian Alpine villages. Perhaps its most eye-catching feature is the steins figural handle, formed in the shape of a Tazlwurm (or Tatzelwurm), sometimes called an Alps Dragon, a mythical lizard-like creature with the legless hind-end of a serpent, shown below emerging from the mountain and breathing fire.

Price Range: $1,000-$1,200
