Munich Souvenir

Catalog No. 5411

Stoneware, relief, 1.0L or 0.5L, pewter lid, marked “WEKARA”.

Created as the coat-of-arms or archival seal of Munich in 1239, the centrally depicted Münchner Kindl (Munich Child) has evolved from a hooded monk standing in front of Munich’s gate to a charming child and symbol of the city. The Hofbräuhaus and the Frauenkirche (Church of Our Lady), two well-known Munich landmarks, are pictured on the sides of the stein.

“WEKARA” is an acronym for Wilhelm E. Krumeich aus Ransbach, a Westerwald finishing shop and distributor.
