Catalog No. 259
Pottery or stoneware, figural, 1.0L.
This body style has been seen with a number of different lid inlays (heads), and was probably produced with all six of the heads used in the “270” series. (Click on the “Next” arrow below to view numbers 270I through 270VI.)
Versions of this stein also exist with metal heads that closely match the Merkelbach & Wick 270III-type head. They have been observed in bronze, copper, pewter and even silver. It’s doubtful that these heads were made in the M&W factory, though they may have been applied there.
Price Ranges Painted: $175-$250 Monochrome: $125-$175 Metal Head: $300-$400
