Exerciser in Beer Barrel

Catalog No. (F7)

Pottery or stoneware, figural, 0.5L.

Text:
“Gut Heil!”
(Good health!)

The text “Gut Heil!” doesn’t translate particularly well into English, but is a German greeting typically associated with exercise and physical fitness. German beer, as represented by the barrel, is also considered to be a component of a healthy life style.

A special edition of this stein was made for the 7th German national gymnastics meet in Munich (“VII Deutsches Turnfest”), featuring a relief Munich Child on the front of the barrel, as well as the words “Gruss aus München” (Greetings from Munich). (Add 15% to prices below.)

These steins were produced by Merkelbach & Wick for distribution by Jakob Reinemann, a Munich dealer, and are typically bottom-marked “J. Reinemann/München.”

Price Range: $200-$300
