Text:
Ich weiss nicht was soll es bedeuten, da ish so traurig bin,
ein Mrchen aus alten Zeiten, das kommt mir nicht aus dem Sinn.

(I dont know what it means that I am so sad,
I keep thinking of a fairytale from long ago.)
Den Schiffer im kleinen Schiffe ergreift es mit wildem Weh;
er schaut nicht die Felsenriffe, er schaut nur hinauf in die Hh.

(The boatman in his little skiff is seized with a wild ache,
he doesnt see the rocky reefs, he looks only at the heights.)

The Loreley is a mythical nymph who is said to have once sat on a summit above the Rhine river singing songs and tempting boatmen to potential disaster on the rocks below with her haunting music and stunning beauty.

Text is taken from the first and third stanzas of the poem Loreleylied (Loreley Song), written by Heinrich Heine in 1823 and set to music in 1838 by Friedrich Silcher.
