The scene on this stein is based on the 12th century German poem, Das Nibelungenlied, and depicts the hero Siegfried, along with his bride Kriemhilde, being greeted by his father, King Siegmund, upon Siegfried’s return home to the Netherlands from Kriemhilde’s castle in Worms.
