The �Raupenhelm� (caterpillar helmet) on this soldier has a long history dating back to ancient times, but was last worn by Bavarian light cavalry (J�ger) units between 1843 and 1886.
Reproductions of this stein, some with markings similar to the originals, were made by Schierholz from about 1986 to 1995.
