The building depicted by this stein is the tower at St. Louis Union Station, opened in 1894 and once the busiest passenger rail terminal in the world. Train operations ceased in 1978, but the structure was preserved and reopened in 1985 as the largest adaptive re-use project in the United States, quickly becoming one of the city�s most popular shopping, dining and entertainment destinations. Convention attendees stayed at the Omni International Hotel in the Union Station complex.
