Andreas Hofer (1767-1810) was a Tyrolean freedom fighter and leader of the 1809 Tyrolean Rebellion against the Napoleonic invasion. Betrayed by a neighbor, he was captured by Italian troops in early 1910 and executed by firing squad shortly thereafter.
