Drinking Scenes

Catalog No. 328

Pottery, relief, 0.5L, figural inlaid lid, varying central image.
Designs attributed to Ludwig Foltz II.

This model number exists with six different central images including: 1) steins carrying drunken man; 2) man weighing steins and barrel; 3) two men drinking; 4) man in stein; 5) drunken king on barrel; and 6) drunken man on floor. Note also that coloration varies and that not all have a hops vine frieze around the base.

The standard “hat” lid inlay reads “Gruß Gott (God’s Greeting) No.” followed often by a hand-written number (see example below), but not all lids are found numbered. Other figural inlays exist and are more rare (add 25%).

See also Nos. 1131 and 1149.
