Satyr

Catalog No. 1027

Pottery, relief, 0.5L, inlaid lid.

A Satyr is a creature in Greek mythology that was part human and part goat. Satyrs were both playful and lustful, roaming the forests and mountains, often as part of the entourage of the God Dionysus. They are generally pictured as being very hairy and having the horns, ears and lower body of a goat.

Early monochrome versions of this model number exist (bottom row) with the same surrounding graphics but a different overall body configuration and a pewter lid.
