“Ein’ feste Burg ist unser Gott.”
(A mighty fortress is our God.)
Text is the title of a hymn written and set to music by Martin Luther in 1529. Luther was declared an outlaw by the Emperor Karl V in 1521 and, for his own safety, he was brought to the Wartburg, a castle in Eisenach, Thuringia, where he lived incognito for ten months during the years 1521 and 1522, calling himself Junker Jörg (Knight George).
Three different steins bear this model number. The other two depict Nuremberg and Heidelberg. A 0.5L version of this stein bears model No. 2403.
