“Munich Child”

Catalog No. 4088

Porcelain, figural, 0.5L.
Also found as No. 4088/2, 0.3L.

Created as the coat-of-arms or archival seal of Munich in 1239, the centrally depicted Münchner Kindl (Munich Child) has evolved from a hooded monk standing in front of Munich’s gate to a charming child and symbol of the city.

Two versions of the 0.5-liter Munich Child are known to exist, distinguishable by differing lid inserts/heads (right and below left).

Bohne also produced a nearly identical and more frequently seen unnumbered stein, cataloged here as (X1).

Similar to Stahl No. 4088.
