(The loyalty and bravery of the Swiss.)

The central design is taken from Lucerne‘s “Lion Monument” carved into a solid rock face in 1792. The monument recalls an earlier battle in 1567 that resulted in the rescue of the French King Charles IX from the Huguenots by the Swiss Guard.
