In all likelihood, the centrally depicted winged figure is intended to represent King Aeolus, Greek god of the four winds. Aeolus will be familiar to readers of Homer�s Odyssey as the god who provided Odysseus with a bag of wind that allowed him to continue on his troubled journey to his home in Ithaca.
