The theme of this stein is taken from a medieval German legend about a colorful, if somewhat less than intrepid, band of “monster” hunters (“Die Sieben Schwaben”), who are perhaps best remembered today as the subjects of one of a series of “Household Tales” collected by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm, and first published in 1812.
