Catalog No. 2391

Pottery, etched, 1.0L with figural inlaid lid (castle) or 0.5L with etched inlay.

The theme of this stein is taken from a medieval legend which tells the tale of the “Swan Knight”. Today, the story is most often associated with the Richard Wagner opera “Lohengrin”, first performed at Weimar in 1850. In this scene, Lohengrin marries Elsa, daughter of the late Duke of Brabant, after winning her hand in single combat with the evil knight Friedrich of Telramund.
